The reason I feel rejuvenated is because of this place, Ubud is a magical place that will make all your problems fade and bring you absolute joy. We've been here for 3 weeks and we continue to fall more in love every day. What more than an endless amount of options could a constantly hungry vegan need? Nothing! it's all here.
So it's Sunday, which means it'll most likely be a relaxing day, no gym and nothing specifically planned. We officially have internal alarm clocks that wake us up at 6:30AM, so when it went off, we got up and got ready for the day.
Back to Alchemy we go! They were closed ONE day and you would think we were drug addicts having withdrawals. After yet another amazing fruit bowl and juice we hung out for a bit since their wifi is much better than ours, then trekked back to Villa Lebah. We had bought some veggies to cook for dinner so we dropped them off at the house and went right back out the door.
We walked downtown to go rent some bikes because although we enjoy walking, sometimes it would be nice to get somewhere a bit faster than an hour. We rented two peddle bikes which we will be riding until the end of our stay in Ubud. We would get a scooter but people drive like maniacs in Asia so we'd rather not die out here.
After getting the bikes we had lunch at our fave little Warung (restaurant) called Dewa Warung, apparently it's been here for years and the prices haven't changed. It was recommended by Dewi, same as the rest of the places we've tried and this one definitely takes the cake since its 1.70$ for a meal that tastes amazing.
Once we demolished six plates to the two of us, we biked home, chilled out for a bit until it was time for me to start chopping some veggies for dinner. I cooked up a bunch of veggies and potatoes then foiled them up and baked them to make us an awesome and cheap dinner! There's just something so satisfying about a humongous plate of organic veggies that feeds your body, mind and soul.
Plates are licked clean and it's time for some chilling then bed! Peace!

Selamat fitness! Mmm... Good fitness? I don't really know but our driver says this to us each morning upon dropping us off at the gym. So I reply with Selamat waiting, because he waits in his car while we workout, in my head I'm wishing him a good time waiting Ha! I love blurting out random Indonesian words at them because first of all it makes them laugh and second it's fun.
So anyway back to pumping iron this morning. Carol, Mary-Kay, Vee and I had a leg day today with some squats and so many other fun things. After our gym sesh Vee and I got dropped off at Alchemy for our last breakfast there... We decided we can't eat there every morning anymore because it's wayyyyyy too expensive so maybe just once in a while? Hopefully.
One fruit bowl and 1200 ml of fresh juice down and it's time to go back to the house to shower and get ready for another one of our eventless days. After showering we hopped on our bikes and since we used them a bit more today we quickly realized that they're sh!t and more of a hazard than anything. Poor excuse for bikes but I guess they're doing the trick-ish?
We got up to absolutely nothing today, we rode around on our crappy bikes and almost got ran over several times each. We got the usual for lunch at Dewa Warung, they never disappoint which is very comforting. After lunch we juggled around with the idea of getting a membership for yoga but decided against it. It was going to cost us 240$ versus what we actually decided to do which was, buying a cheapie yoga mat and doing it at the Villa. True backpackers save where they can, so this was our solution and compromise, BAM!
Yoga mat in hand and it's time to head back to Carol's to cook up some din din. Tonight was leftovers from yesterday with some added broccoli and green beans, ohh and a delicious red leaf lettuce salad with balsamic dressing from Juice Ja. As always our tummies are nice and full and ready for some relaxation followed by bedtime, life could definitely be far worse. Nighty night!
A bientot,
Janelle Brine
