Koh'ked' up on Phi Phi

Feb 28th, 2015

Now we know how the athletes felt doing burpees in the sand at the Crossfit games last year.

Highlight of today was definitely our wicked WOD this morning upon waking. We got up, got our sh!t together and headed for the beach where we ran 2-3 kilometres altogether with 50 air squats and 50 burpees at each end. Let's just say that I had sand in places I didn't know were possible, but in the end it was an awesome workout and so worth it.

After the WOD we went over to our fav fruit stand and got loads of fresh fruit along with delicious shakes (if only we had these cheap and accessible fruit shakes back home! Maybe I'll have to start something).

Jay's first and last meal at a fancy resort, what a pathetic excuse for a margarita pizza.

We had a super chill day today since yesterday was somewhat hectic, it was nice to relax. We laid around for the better part of the day and also booked some tickets to do the Koh Phi Phi tour tomorrow and also tickets for our travels to the east islands on Monday. We will be revisiting Koh Samui and Koh Phangan with Jay which is cool because we loved our time spent there.

Once we were done being bumps on a log we had dinner at Papaya for the fourth night in a row (it's just so damn good!), had amazing meals as always then went back to the hostel to lay around and be useless again until bedtime Ha!

Arriving to Maya Beach.

Koh Phi Phi is on the menu today! After our habitual fruit breakie we got picked up at the hostel and was brought to the beach where we hopped on a speed boat. About 30 minutes later we were at our first stop at Maya Beach on Koh Phi Phi Ley. I have never seen such white and powdery sand as this beach, it was like walking on clouds I swear! To add to the beauty we were surrounded by the clearest water and well just have a look...

Maya Beach.

After Maya we were off to our second destination which was bamboo island. It's snorkelling time! It's been really great to swim with all the fish and being able to have a clear view of amazing corrals and sea life. After snorkelling we had a rad lunch followed by some sunbathing and relaxing before heading to our last stop.

After 2 hours passed it was time to go to Koh Phi Phi Don ( FYI, Phi Phi is pronounced like Pee pee), this Phi Phi island is the main one I believe because when we got there is was loaded with tourist. We had few hours to explore so we did a bit of shopping around and downed a couple banana shakes while at it.
Bamboo island.

Times up! Back to Koh Lanta we go, we hopped on the speed boat which was good because once it gets going there's no better feeling than the cool air on your skin, when the sun is trying extremely hard to burn you to pieces.

After the sun set.

Dinner at Papaya's for the fifth time, late night swim WOD and bed! Early ish morning tomorrow because we will be travelling to Koh Samui :).

A bientot,
Janelle Brine
