Yesterday was such a great first full day here in Ubub, we all had wicked nights sleep at Carol's. Especially after having stayed at hostels for the last two months, this definitely feels luxurious.
Upon waking we got dressed, joined Carol and her friend Novi outside, where we chatted and ate some fruit for breakie. After breakfast we figured we should walk out to the Main Street, go exploring and see what was happening in town.
It was already noonish by this time so we pretty much stopped at the first vegetarian restaurant we stumbled upon. They didn't have much to choose from but Jay and Vee both got an avocado salad and I got the veggie burger. Average at best.
Once we finished eating, our lifesaver, Dewi sent us the ultimate Ubud vegan guide. Since she lived here for over a year she has all the secrets to making our stay even better. Hallelujah! I can't wait to taste all the amazing food that this place has to offer.
After lunch we walked around and shopped for what felt like hours upon hours, I guess it feels longer when you're not the one doing the shopping Ha! I did end up getting something for myself which is somewhat of a rare occasion.
For dinner we ate at an organic restaurant where the food was better than previously for sure! Following dinner we went to Alchemy to grab some fresh juice for breakie in the morning. We were shocked at the fact that this Raw Vegan restaurant/juice bar was selling 1.2 litre bottle of fresh organic juice for only 11-13 dollars. This will without a doubt be a daily purchase for us, yumm!
With our large juices in hand we made our way back to Carol's and crashed, since a earlyish morning was waiting ahead.
Today was the first day of training in Bali! We would have preferd a Crossfit Box of course but Crossfit Bali is located 1.5 hours from Ubud. While that's a no go there's a little gym called Ubud Fitness that Carol goes to and we ended up getting a membership there.
This facility is where we did our workout today and also where we'll be working out for the next month. It was fun to train/workout with Carol again, it had been almost a year. One hour passed by extremely quick and it was time to go, Edi was waiting outside to drive us back to the house.
When we got back we downed our delicious juices over a nice chat, while watching the chickens and roosters run around in the yard. I find them so cute and I could never imagine harming these innocent little beings for the pleasure of my palate.
After juice and showers all four of us coincidentally needed haircuts, so off to the salon we go! Fresh and fabulous, 10 dollar cuts for everybody. Then came a tasty lunch, followed by relaxing at the house until the Balinese Fire Dance at 7:30 pm?
Balinese Fire Dance
We kind of got off our a$$es a bit too late and wasn't able to get dinner before the show so we went after it was over. The show was quite interesting, it was nice to experience some Balinese culture however, I wouldn't go see it again. Dewa Warung followed the show where we chowed down and talked for a few hours.
Back at the house and ready for bed! Another early gym date with Carol tomorrow so Peace out!
A bientot,
Janelle Brine
