Oh Ubud, How I've missed you!

March 16th & 17th, 2015

Every little alley in Ubud is so gorgeous.

Peace out Gili T, we're finally leaving the island today. We've been away for three days and it was more than enough. I think that about halfway through our second day I was ready to come back to Ubud. It was like leaving my paradise, Ubud is literally the most perfect place I've ever been.

All islands seem the same to me, a place for young travellers to party and get super drunk or high which isn't our scene so it definitely felt good to hop on that boat today. We took the 11:30 AM boat that brought us back to Bali and after a 1.5 hour boat ride we still had an hour drive in the minivan to get to Ubud.

Island from a far! Goodbye!

Once finally in Ubud we went full tilt to a restaurant, as we were quite hungry and oh so glad to be back where the food is unbelievably delicious. Good food on the islands was such a struggle to find and there seriously isn't anything worst than sh!tty food in my opinion.

After a great dinner at SOL Cafe we dragged our tired bodies and big back packs back to Villa Lebah where we crashed to for the night. Not much of an eventful day but when travelling, these type of days happen once in a while where you spend your whole day on transportation, life could be worse Ha! (I could be in Canada covered in snow...sorry mom and dad!).

Back into our routine this morning! 6 AM wake up and by 7 AM were at Ubud Fitness to start our workout of the day. We worked a lot on hip mobility today to improve our squats, one of the many things I appreciate about Crossfit is how mechanics are a higher priority than load.

Somewhat of a hectic morning, after the gym we went back to the house to shower then picked up some fresh juice at Alchemy followed by a cleaning at the dentist. A cleaning is only 45 CAD here so we figured we'd get that done since neither of us have a dentist in Kelowna. It was a bit different than getting a cleaning in Canada but at the end of it, it certainly did the trick!

Random path we took on the way back from the dentist.

Carol, Vee and I trekked back to the house to drop off some stuff then Vee and I met up with Jay at Starbucks where he was hanging out while waiting for us to done at the dentist. All three of us walked down the street and hopped into a cab which brought us down to Taco Casa, where we ate some awesome vegan burritos upon Dewi's request.

Yummy veggie burrito.

After lunch we walked over to Ubud's famous Monkey Forest and we fed these cute but crazy creatures some bananas. By fed them I actually meant they come take the bananas from you if you don't throw or willingly give it to them within 30 seconds of entering the forest. I find monkeys so fascinating, while Vee and Jay were being a bit untrusting around them (Don't get me wrong I wasn't too trusting either) I was trying to observe their behaviours. I know that it's known for them to be biologically similar to humans but I still find it crazy how similar they really are.

Little babes and his mom.

Jus hangin' out.

When we were ready to walk home it started to pour out so we waited a bit while watching a monkey steal a bag of mangosteen from a woman walking on the sidewalk (quite funny I must say). The rain wasn't really stopping so we cabbed it to Clear Cafe to hangout and grab some dinner.

Clear Cafe.

Since we have to wake up at 2 AM tomorrow morning for our volcano sunrise trek we will be packing it in extremely early tonight! Grabbing juice and date balls for the morning then off to bed.

A bientot,
Janelle Brine
