Travelling day! We are leaving Koh Lanta to make our way back to Koh Samui today. We didn't quite think this through, but this morning we didn't get much of a breakie other than leftover soggy watermelon. It was too early to get any shakes or fruit since we were leaving town at 8 am and most businesses open between 9-11am around here.
We ate what we had left of the watermelon while Jay ate the best looking toast and peanut butter we had ever seen (we were just hungry and jealous). It's often that I think about how much easier it would be to just eat animal products since they're so easily and widely available. Then it takes me about 0.1 seconds to switch my mind over to knowing that I'm making such a great and amazing choice by sparing animal suffering when I choose to live a vegan lifestyle.
We traveled all day from 8 am - 5:30 pm, taking 2 minibuses, 1 coach bus, 1 ferry and 1 taxi to finally arrive at Chaulty Towers (same place we stayed at last time we were here a month ago) in Koh Samui.
Although hostels are nice and affordable, it's nice to have a room to yourself once in a while. Also Jay hasn't been able to sleep as well as he would like, being in hostels where poeple are in and out all the time. Dealing with loud and sometimes, inconsiderate people is what you have to endure while backpacking unfortunately.
For a few examples, the ones who snore, the ones who stumble in late and drunk, the ones who walk in like they're alone in the room and turn on all the lights and the best one yet...are you ready? The one dude who came in to the room at 2 am, made a bunch of noise, went into the bathroom (keep in mind that the walls in hostels are less than paper thin) and took a huge obnoxious dump and left the door open for everyone to be woken up by a putrid smell. RUDE!!!
Once we brought our bags into the room,we left to grab dinner right away because we were all starving. We went to get some delicious Indian food at the Curry Pot (original right? Ha!) and once our bellies were stuffed we walked around a bit then headed back to pack it.

Mar 3rd, 2015
Why do I always think it's a good idea to sleep in, then when noon rolls around a few hours after waking I get mad that I wasted too much time sleeping. Even though we woke up later than usual, it was an amazing morning.
After chatting with my mom on the phone, Vee and I laced up our runners and out for a run we went. Jay felt quite ambitious this morning so he went 3.5 Kms up the road to Samui Sky Gym to go lift some weights, while we just ran around the block. All in all I ran about 4.5 Kms and it was harder than usual because the sun was scorching this late in the morning.
Once we came back from our run I didn't even take the time to put my swim suit on I just jumped in the pool with my sports bra and gitch still on. After cooling off we got out, had a shower and went right back out the door.
We hadn't had anything to eat yet so to quench our thirst and eliminate our hunger we went to the fruit shake bar down the street and had four, one dollar smoothies each (they're on the smaller side and this has to hold us til dinner). I always have banana shakes and Vee gets banana/coconut.
On the way here we stumbled upon a vegan restaurant! Hallelujah! When this happens it's such a wonderfully satisfying moment, there's nothing better than going to a restaurant and being able to choose anything from the menu knowing it will be made 100% vegan. I will definitely be having Lamai Veggie for dinner!
After downing our shakes, Jay met up with us then we went to Inner Massage where Vee got a foot scrub/pedicure and Jay got a foot massage. Although I love thai massages I usually opt of getting them to save my money, because the more I save the longer we'll be able to travel.
Following the spa filled afternoon, we got more banana shakes to take with us while we walked along the beach. We had a great dinner and as usual packed it in early ish after a late night swim in the pool.
A bientot,
Janelle Brine
